e_nata_la_repubblica_italiana.jpgThe “Festa della Repubblica” is the Italian national holiday celebrated on the second day of June. It commemorates the institutional referendum of 1946 when (by universal suffrage) the Italian population was called to decide what form of government (monarchy or republic) to give to the country after the second world war and the fall of Fascism. After 85 years of monarchy, with 12,717,923 votes for and 10,719,284 votes against, Italy became a Republic, and the monarchs of the House of Savoy were deposed and exiled. This is one of the most important Italian national holidays which, like July 14th in France (Storming of the Bastille) and July 4th in the USA (Independence Day), celebrates the birth of the nation.

All over the world Italian embassies hold celebrations with Heads of State of the host country. Heads of State from all over the world send congratulations to the President of the Republic. Special official ceremonies take place in Italy.

locandina-ortone.jpgThis Coming Saturday, MAY 9th, is PAJAMA Night at Girotondo Italian School, 1055 Las Ovejas, San Rafael, CA 94903 from 5:30 to 8:30pm. The movie this week will be Ortone il mondo dei chi.

One Saturday a month from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm, your children will enjoy Italian Food, Games, Crafts, Face Painting, Story Time, Movie time and more.
Drop off your kids, go out and relax, while they have fun and learn Italian, and then pick them up by 8:30 pm.
The fee for Girotondo Students and Marin Italians Cuccioli is $15 and $ 5 for each additional Family member.
PLEASE make sure you have cash (exact change) or check at the drop off, and bring a PAJAMA for your child/dren!

6:30pm - (approx) we will move to the dining room area for the Italian Wine Tasting
For those who wish to stay on for drinks only you are welcome to do so.

Pricing
We will have a fixed Italian Wine tasting at $35.00 per person Inclusive of tax and gratuity.
We will taste 5 wines and we'll have food from the region of Emilia.

We will have a maximum of 15 people for the Italian Wine Tasting.

Marin Italians is a group of Italians in the San Francisco Bay Area who meet regularly to promote Italian language, culture, businesses and activities.
Events are focused on Marin County and North Bay.

Our Members meet on a regular basis for outings, conversation practice, social events, playdates  and announce interesting educational opportunities.
