The Italian Cultural Institute co-presents with Café du Nord, Italian-born singer-songwriter Elisa, a multi-platinum, award-winning star, on the launch of her first tour of the United States and Canada that started on October 29.
As acclaimed internationally for her powerful live performances as for her inspired, emotionally direct pop-rock recordings, Elisa has appeared on various world stages with music legends including Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavarotti and Tina Turner. To date, though, her only North American engagements have been singing the Italian national anthem at the closing ceremony of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and two sold-out shows at NYC’s Joe’s Pub in April 2008.

We had a great time at the " Ristorante Frantoio" at Sunday's event. Most members got there between 6 and 6:30 p.m., and we spent one hour mingling at the bar before moving into the dining room. The group was well split between new and old members and everyone had enough time to know well each other.
During the meal, each member had an opportunity to talk about their favorite arguments. All conversation was in Italian and everyone enjoyed the excellent dinner.
A warm welcome to three new "Italians": Iyana, Dianne and Nancy. We hope you had fun and see you all at the next Social Mixer!
