Girotondo Update Print E-mail

girotondo.gif Dear Girotondo Italian School Families and Friends

We are thrilled to have some very significant new announcements regarding our current and future expansion and class offerings.

Firstly, as you all know, we have officially become an  elementary school by adding Kindergarten to our Fall 2008 curriculum!
This is exciting progress for which we have worked hard to achieve. In order to accommodate our additional students and receive proper zoning and licensure, we require a larger facility.

More news will follow as the Girotondo Italian School Foundation Board members cement the details.

We will have an official open house at the new space before Summer.

We would also like to proudly announce our intention to become a pre K through 12th grade school, offering an International Baccalaureate (IB) upon graduation.

To that end we are currently working with Elizabeth Meyers as our new Academic Director to build and install our curriculum as well as guide us through the process of qualifying for IB status. Our program will satisfy U.S., Italian and IB educational requirements.

A description of Elizabeth’s credentials follows. We intend to offer the very finest education possible and to prepare our students for any educational eventuality, domestic and international.

Elizabeth Meyers bio:

Elizabeth Meyers has a Masters in the Art of Teaching (MAT) from National-Louis University in Chicago.
She has taught language arts and social studies to middle school age students for over six years.
Currently, Elizabeth teaches in the Novato Unified School District and is co-chair of the Language Arts
department at San Jose Middle School.
Elizabeth's passion is curriculum development and she is very excited to implement
the International Baccaulaureate (IB) program, and guide Girotondo Elementary
through the IB accreditation process.
